Introduction to the Pathways to Creative Careers (P2CC) Online Guide
Yane Calovski, editor
Welcome to the Pathways to Creative Careers (P2CC) Online Guide.
This online guide is the result of a collaborative process developed by five organisations working across Europe, each contributing its own experience in mentoring, artistic practice, education, and community engagement. While each partner has focused on a particular thematic area, the Guide is intended to be explored as a whole.
The five thematic sections are Inclusion and Equality, Well-being and Coping with Stress, Social Impact of Creative Arts, Critical Thinking and Media Literacy, and Digitalisation and Enterprise Skills. They can be explored individually or in conversation with one another. You may come to the Guide looking for a practical activity, a specific tool, or simply a different perspective on mentoring. We encourage you to move freely between sections and discover unexpected connections. A discussion about inclusion may also become a conversation about well-being. A reflection on digital tools may lead to questions of ethics, media literacy, or social responsibility. This openness is intentional and reflects the collaborative spirit in which the Guide was developed.
Across the five sections you will find introductory essays, practical activities, tools and resources, cross-thematic references, mentor reflections, and outcomes from the project’s international workshops. Together, these materials are intended to support reflection as much as action, encouraging mentors not only to share knowledge but also to cultivate curiosity, dialogue, critical awareness, and collaborative learning.
Rather than presenting fixed methodologies or definitive answers, the Guide brings together approaches, reflections, practical activities, resources, and experiences that have emerged through dialogue and practice. It is intended as a resource for mentors, artists, educators, cultural workers, and anyone interested in supporting the professional and personal development of young people entering the cultural and creative sectors.
Above all, we hope this Guide remains a living resource—one that continues to evolve through use, adaptation, and exchange. We do not see mentoring as the transfer of expertise from one person to another, but as a process of listening, questioning, experimenting, and learning together. We invite you to explore these materials, adapt them to your own context, and allow them to become part of your own mentoring practice.
Every mentoring relationship begins with a conversation. We hope this Guide becomes part of yours.
